Abstract: the purpose of this research is to characterize the development of the scheme for the integral as defined by earth science engineering students using fuzzy metrics in order to establish the level of development on intra, inter and trans levels (piaget & garcía, 1984). the results demonstrate the difficulty of students to link the succession of riemann sums with their dependence on the n value of the partition, as a manifestation of the relationship between the succession of riemann sums and the step to the limit which forms the meaning of the defined integral.
