Investigación universitaria en obstetricia y ginecología en la Maternidad "Concepción Palacios"

objective: to describe the contributions of the specialization course of obstetrics and gynecology, maternity "concepcion palacios" to university research, between 1999 and 2008. methods: retrospective-prospective, descriptive and analytical study. were located and reviewed the degree thesis at the center for documentation of the commission on graduate education in the tei data base and the headquarters library. a survey graduates to identify the difficulties for delivery. data were analyzed using spss 17. setting: maternidad "concepcion palacios", caracas. results: the grade 96 special works. in 2000, 2001 and 2003 were 100% productivity. from 2006 there was a reduction. the overall productivity was 79.27%. there were 69.79% and 30.2% work obstetric gynecological. the predominant line of research in obstetrics was "prenatal diagnosis" in gynecology was "gynecological cancer." the highest percentage of work was a prospective, descriptive and correlational. the average number of subjects in the studies was 121.48 ± 180.69. the national average was 3.59 references ± 3.82, and international was 28.3 ± 12.96. twenty papers were approved with honors and six were awarded. only 18.2% of those approved to december 2009 have been published. the main difficulty is lack of time delivery. measures are presented to stimulate delivery. conclusions: the productivity of the course was reduced from 2006. it is proposed to postpone the start of the degree thesis until the end of first year and mandatory periodic evaluation.
