Determinación de prolactina y tirotrofina en un grupo heterogéneo de pacientesKeywords: thyrotropin, prolactin, cerebrospinal fluid, trasudation. Abstract: objective: to assess serum and cerebrospinal fluid concentrations of prolactin and thyrotropin in a heterogeneous group of patients. method: fifty-one both sexes adult patients, with no endocrine pathology, who were going to be submitted to spinal punction for anesthesia, classified into three groups (17 men, 17 non-pregnant women, and 17 full term pregnant patients), were investigated. hormones were quantified by the electrochemiluminescence method, with an elecys analyzer type 1010/2010. results were statiscally analyzed by the anova test and correlation coefficients. setting: departamento de reproducción humana del hospital chiquinquirá de maracaibo and medicina nuclear del hospital clínico de maracaibo. results: both prolactin and thyrotropin were encountered in cerebrospinal fluid of all patients. a correlation between cerebrospinal fluid thyrotropin and prolactin levels was found in all studied groups. conclusions: very low concentrations of prolactin and thyrotropin were demonstrated in all studied patients. highest prolactin concentration, in both fluids, corresponded to women, specially the pregnancy group. both hormones had positive correlation between their serum and cerebrospinal fluid levels, which suggests a trasudation mechanism.
