Abstract: objective: to present a new technique of application of leff¨s forceps for the rotation of the cephalic pole in a transverse variety to an occipital-pubic variety. methods: descriptive and analytical study, where the new technique was applied to patients in labor of childbirth, that presented persistent transverse varieties or require to diminish the time of the expulsion period. setting: maternidad "concepcion palacios". results: the rotation of the cephalic pole of transverse varieties was successfully obtained to an occipital-pubic, in all the cases. the duration of childbirth′s labor was 8 hours and 51 minutes average, until the expulsion period; the mean duration expulsion period was 24 minutes and a total time of labor of childbirth was 8 hours and 54 minutes. the membrane rupture was of 64.28 % in artificial form; the amniotic liquid was clear with lumps in 95.24 %; post labor bleeding was physiological in 97.6 % of them; in 78.57 % of the cases was applied leff¨s forceps associated to tractor forceps, it applied in iii plane of hodge in 88.1.%, a successful rotation of the cephalic pole in all the documented cases being 9.6 % to the occipital-pubic variety and 2.40 % to occipital-sacra was obtained; in 9 cases vaginal tear was degree i and degree ii in smaller proportion; epidural anesthesia in 76.19 % of the patients was administered. the time of hospital stay was of 2 and 3 days in 85.71 % of them: the evolution of the mother was satisfactory in 100 % of the applied cases. the apgar of new born when being born 1 minute: 7 points, 5 minutes: 9 points in average; the weight average was: 3 133 g. conclusion: the applied technique demonstrates to be simpler its application and highly effective, by other side this technique result to be of easy learning reason why we recommended its education to the resident doctors.
