Abstract: the works of the jesuit diego de avenda?o show the intellectual and political richness of the xviith century peruvian philosophical debate. recently published volumes, such as thesaurus indicus (antwerp, 1668), diego de avenda?o (1594-1688), and filosofía, moralidad, derecho y política en el perú colonial (fondo editorial, universidad nacional mayor san marcos, lima), intend to rescue it. this article outlines how those translations, publications and analyses are important to understanding our historical experience in building thoughts and collective sensitivities and enlighten our community?s intellectual biography in order to re-evaluate the strategies with which we have tortuously constructed forms of coexistence for an unedited and culturally heterogeneous community.
