the purpose of this article is that of rendering an outline of the philosophical basis that is implied in the existential agony that is perceived through miguel de unamuno？s work aunt tula. in order of fulfilling this purpose, a comparison has been made of this author？s thought and that of kierkegaard, the idea of immortality being the link between both. from this perspective of analysis, the fight between faith and reason, exposed by unamuno, states clearly that the longing for immortality faces universal categories, while for kierkegaard, faith is above reason no matter how absurd any decision can seem to be.
