CONSIDERACIONES SOBRE LOS RESIDUOS RADIACTIVOS EN EL DEBATE DE LA ENERGíA NUCLEAR Y SU INCLUSIóN EN EL MODELO ENERGéTICO DE CHILE

this paper tries to give an overview of the present energy scenario in chile, where a part of the population is in favour of the use of nuclear energy to generate electricity. it deals with the management of nuclear waste, and also with the safety of this type of plants, given that both elements pose a serious threat for the acceptance of nuclear power facilities in our country. the concept of radioactive waste and the different presentday models for the management of radioactive waste are also looked into in detail. at a different level, we also analyze the spanish and european regulation concerning radioactive waste disposal.
