DESCRIPCIóN HISTOLóGICA DE LA SUBSTANCIA CORTICAL DORSAL EN LA PARTE MEDIA DE LA DIáFISIS DEL METACARPIANO III EN YEGUA MESTIZA

the bone is the only tissue with structural and geometrical adaptation to impossed pressure. during its life time the bone is affected by external and internal processes. the external processes change its dimention and shape. the internal processes remodeling its internal architecture. age, sex, specy, origin and mineral content affecte the bone as well. the structural changes in the microscopic organization of the bone tissue the growth and remodeling for part the each animal specie. the objetive of this study was to know the microscopic structure of the dorsal quadrant of the metacarpial iii in the mid diaphysis in different age groups of mares. the dorsal cortical of the left metacarpus iii from 30 mares between 2 and 5 years old were studied. after the soft tissues were removal from the bones, a sample of the dorsal quadrant was obtained. the dorsal quadrant was sampled in the midle of the diaphysis. them, the samples were sanded and observed with a polarized light microscope. histological differences were found among the different age groups. the modifications of the dorsal cortical bones in the midle of the diaphysis of the metacarpial iii happened until the mares were 4 years old
