Bloqueo AV de alto grado transitorio por compromiso nodal y acción vagal en un deportista ?Es necesaria la electroestimulación cardíaca permanente? Keywords: av nodal block, electrophysiologic study, vagal hyperactivity, ajmaline. Abstract: an asymptomatic athlete was evaluated due to long term av block with pauses up to 4.7 seconds in 24 hs. ecg monitoring: the electro-physiologic study showed a suprahisian mobitz type i, second degree av block and the ajmaline test was negative. in the holter ecg monitoring the greatest degree of av blockade was coincident with the lowest sinus rate. these findings were consistent with a chronic av node disease, which produced high degree block paroxysms due to a predominance of vagal tone. no permanent electric cardiac stimulation was indicated and the patient was allowed to continue exercising.
