La Demarcación de Tierras Indígenas en VenezuelaKeywords: indigenous lands, territorial demarcation, venezuela. Abstract: this article analyzes, from a legal and historical perspective, the different territorial policies pursued by the venezuelan state, paying particular attention to the current process of indigenous land and habitat demarcation. for an understanding of this new form of indigenous territorialization, the author examines the institutional and instrumental aspects of the land demarcation, the practical implications of certain concepts related to territorial dispositions, the technical difficulties that have emerged with these procedures, and the role of anthropology in assisting this process. in spite of the current legal framework backing indigenous rights in venezuela, there is still an enormous distance between the state?s discourse on indigenous questions and the effective granting of the collective land titles which the discourse promises.
