Calidad de la ciencia producida en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana: un modelo y nuevos retos

the production of new knowledges and scientific research characterize the universities. the aim of the present paper is to analyze the inclusion of the insituto superior de ciencias médicas de la habana, now universidad de ciencias médicas de la habana in the ranking iberoamericano sir 2010 and the challenges it means in order to fulfil a better position in the future. the university's ranking iberoamericano sir 2010 and its items of scientific production, international collaboration, scientific quality average and average of papers included in the first quartile sir. la universidad de ciencias médicas de la habana was placed in 234`s ibe rank and in the position 159 in the lac′s rank there are six faculties belonging from this university that appear as independent universities. our university was placed in the third position among the cubans institutions included in this ranking. there is a sub-registration of papers mainly due to the professors don't give credit to the university in spite of they were employed the teaching scenarios and due to the poor journal's visibility. the university does not take advantages of the international collaboration for scientific production. average of the scientific quality is low as well as low average in the first quartile sir. the new challenges included to improve paper's quality and its visibility.
