Síndrome de disfunción temporomandibular y factores asociados. Abstract: objective: to describe the behavior of the tmj dysfunction syndrome using the wilkes stages for this pathology, as well as the presence of concomitant associated factors. patients and method: a cross-sectional, descriptive and observational study was conducted in 61 patients who suffered from this affection was made at dr. miguel enríquez teaching hospital, from september 2009 to february 2010. results: a prevalence of patients with wilkes stage ii (39, 3%) was found followed by wilkes stage iii (34, 4%). the most common concomitant associated factor was stress (83, 6%) followed by occlusive instability (78, 7%). conclusion: the wilkes stage ii was the most representative in both sexes being stress the most frequent concomitant associated factor with the tmj dysfunction syndrome.
