the purpose of this article is to represent the integration process of a peripheral territory inhabited and built by immigrants from southern mexico, mainly mixteca people from oaxaca, into mexico city. it analyzes the transition of this area from a stigmatized zone to the pride of its inhabitants for the urban amenities achieved through community organization centered on the union de colonos.
