COMPORTAMIENTO DE LA MORTALIDAD POR ENFERMEDAD CEREBROVASCULAR EN PACIENTES HIPERTENSOS

this descriptive study explored the mortality of cerebrovascular diseases in hypertension. it was carried out in “hermanos ameijeiras” hospital from january 1rst to december 31st of 2004 in 41 subjects who died of cerebrovascular diseases. the main variables were: age, gender, risk factors, types and mechanisms of strokes. half of the patients had 75 to 89 years old, and generally were male. the most frequent risk factor was atherosclerosis. the patients had for the most part, a hemorrhagic stroke.
