Efecto de los extractos de cloroformo y tolueno de Cestrum nocturnum L. sobre la conducta exploratoria y pruebas de analgesiaKeywords: cestrum nocturnum l, exploring behavior, analgesia. Abstract: the effect of acute administration of chloroform and toluene extracts from cestrum nocturnum l. dry leaves on the animal′s exploring behavior and analgesia test models. the objective was to begin looking for the active principles related to sedative and analgesic effects of the plant. the chloroform fraction caused hypoactivity and reduced dose-dependent response in acetic acid-induced contortion test without changes in reaction time in the hot-plate method. the toluene fraction caused a decrease of the animal's exploring behavior with similar effect in total length of stay in the 10-cm diameter central circle and a reduction of dose-dependent response to pain in the acetic acid model. in the hot-plate method, this fraction was not effective. the results suggest that an active principle with peripheral analgesic effect and another one with sedative effect are present in both extracts.
