violence has become a problem for public health all over the world. different types have been recognized: physical, psychological and sexual violence. their causes may vary depending on the sociocultural context. the present paper is aimed at identifying violence as a health problem and at describing the types of violence according to the characteristics of those who commit the violent act and to the nature of them.
