introduction: reuse of dialyzers is a serious problem in our country. objective: to perform an observational, descriptive and prospective study to determine the kuf of reused low-flow (lf) and high-flow (hf) dialyzers. methods: eight patients were studied in hemodialysis service of "dr. abelardo buch lópez" nephrology institute during 18 weeks, using lf and hl membranes in two stages. reuse was automated using peracetic. acid like germicide. in vitro and in vivo kuf was measured during all hemodialysis (431 in total). results: in vitro and in vivo kuf of both types of dialyzers decrease significantly during the first six uses. conclusions: kuf of both types of dialyzers has an important diminution with re-processing.
