Abstract: a revisal is carried out on the molecular mechanism of the ischemia-reperfusion oxidative cellular damage, with references to experimental and clinical studies that furnish evidence of the involvement of the reactive oxygen species in this process, and of the protective effect of compounds with antioxidant activity related with the organ and isolated tissues preservation for transplantation or grafting.
