Situación de la violencia doméstica en la mujer, en la población del policlínico "Julio Antonio Mella"

introduction: the woman home violence is a serious health problem, in addition to a flagrant infringement of human rights with impact on the bio-psychosocial health and affectation of the family dynamics. objective: to identify the characteristics of the home violence against women in the health area of the "julio antonio mella" polyclinic over 2007. methods: a retrospective, longitudinal and descriptive study was conducted in women belonging to above mentioned polyclinic from january to december, 2007. universe included 4 386 women choosing 250 by randomized simple sampling. a survey was applied to collect a series of variables. data processing was from the stadistic system and its results are showed in tables. results: violence is present in a 70.4 % of sample, the psychological violence was the more frequent for a 64.8 %, the 88.6 % of total of cases who declared any violence said that children were present, the 71 % of cases are not conscious of the aggression. conclusions: it is frequent the presence of the violence against woman, action involving the other members of the family. women have not perception of its ill-treatment.
