El doctor Manuel Delfín Zamora y la primera revista cubana especializada en Higiene

the 40th anniversary of the first issue of the boletín de higiene y epidemiología, the introduction to the current revista cubana de higiene y epidemiología, will be marked this year. this is an opportune occasion to make the present and future generations of hygienists and epidemiologists, historians, documentation specialists and other interested people know the most important formal and contents aspect of la higiene, the preceding publication of the cuban periodicals in this discipline, as well as some other useful data about the life and work of its founder dr. manuel delfín zamora. we intend with this article to contribute to save from ignorance and oblivion a journal of great importance in the last years of the colonial period and its creator who, despite his modest origin, managed to hold a social position, to make a scientific name for himself and to be considered a noble benefactor of mankind by his contemporaries.
