biotechnology has become not only a scientific but a social phenomenon in cuba due to its impact on the public health and domestic economy. along with other disciplines that have supported the development of this science in the nation, pharmacokinetics has played an important role in both the registration of new molecules and the marketing of biogenerics. the interrelationship among the social demands, the role of universities, the development of the industry and the disciplinary trends were analyzed, taking as a basis a systemic approach that verifies how the links among the subsystems set by the cuban society have worked. all this has led to the contribution of scientific, social and economic goods.
