this article focus on the brazilian foreign policy in the rio branco years. from 1902 to 1912, the brazilian foreign office adopts new guidelines to the project of consolidating brazilian hegemony in south america. yet, the relationship with the countries of the plata basin, particularly with argentina, was essential to achieve this goal.
