Diálogo "interessantíssimo": Roger Bastide e o Modernismo

this paper attempts to outline the multiple dimensions of the dialogue between roger bastide and the brazilian modernists, especially mário de andrade. following the concerns of the brazilian "modernist" school, bastide establishes his contact with the country - with the arts, the literature and the folklore -, reconsiders mário de andrade's interpretations about aleijadinho and the baroque, and especially, shares the formulations of this "modernist" leader about the "authenticity"of the brazilian culture. the author seeks to show that bastide, through this interlocution, has earned his place as a foreign interpreter of brazilian culture and society.
