Novos elementos para uma sociologia dos cientistas sociais: a situa？？o ocupacional dos egressos

the article presents a profile of social sciences graduates based on a survey with four universities' alumni in s？o paulo state (usp, unicamp, puc campinas, and puc s？o paulo). reviewing the related literature, central works near a sociology of social scientists, pivotal questions that steered this research and some points of comparison are indicated. the focus here lays on occupational data, but the research also looks into general demographic and social background variables as a way to explore social recruitment and selectivity changes in the past 35 years. data shows that even though the university segment may be the labor market sector that concentrates social scientists, a diversity of occupational placements exists, mainly in the public area and extra-academic research.
