introduction: patients with hip fractures due to osteoporosis increase every day its frequency, a great group of these patients presented intracapsular hip fractures markedly affect their lifestyle and sometimes may cause death. development: a literature review on the subject was conducted with regard to: classification, utility and importance in management, types of surgical treatment in young patients by osteosynthesis, how to assess reduction, types of implants to use and advantages of open reduction. types of arthroplasties are mentioned in elderly patients, its advantages and disadvantages, as well as the ways of approaches and assessment of the use of bone cement. finally, the practical aspects of the two most frequent intraoperative complications are stated: the inability of prosthesis′ reduction and femur fracture, besides, the importance of a quick surgical intervention. conclusions: patients with intracapsular hip fractures are a great challenge for the medical group, which combines professional skills and institutional conditions to achieve the best possible result and the incorporation of the patient to the society.
