We describe a planar MEMS silicon structure to record ion channel currents in biological cells. The conventional method of performing an electrophysiological experiment, 'patch-clamping', employs a glass micropipette. The micropipette tip is a source of thermal noise because of its inherent, tapered, conical structure, giving rise to a large pipette resistance. This pipette resistance, when coupled with the biological cell capacitance, limits the available bandwidth of single ion channel recordi...

Computer simulations of realistic ion channel structures have always been challenging and a subject of rigorous study. Simulations based on continuum electrostatics have proven to be computationally cheap and reasonably accurate in predicting a channel's behavior. In this paper we discuss the use of a device simulator, SILVACO, to build a solid-state model for KcsA channel and study its steady-state response. SILVACO is a well-established program, typically used by electrical engineers to simula...

All life forms use a seamless integration of physical and chemical sensing mechanisms to enhance their performance and survival skills. To mimic the integrative sensing abilities found in nature, there is a significant interest in developing wearable devices that can smartly track the physiological and biochemical signals of the human body. Progress in wearable physical sensors has been remarkable giving rise to a number of consumer electronics products meant to measure parameters related to act...

Light is one of the most fascinating something of all the time. This paper aims to develop a tool with which one can determine with great accuracy the dimensions of light. Basically was entered a new relationship through which one may determine the size of a photon depending on the wavelength of light. Instead wavelength of light can be used as variable the speed of light and its frequency. One could determine this new expressions using and the known equations: the total energy of a moving parti...

The complex biomechanics and morphology of the femur proximal epiphysis are presented. This specific region in human femur is characterized by a high flexibility compared to that of other primates, since evolved lighter and longer due to the human verticalposition and more balanced loading. The nature and fine morphology of the femur head and its structural behavior have been investigated. Isotropic and orthotropic trabecular structures, which are not present in other primates, have been associa...

The four basic elements of life are: Oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and phosphorus. These four elements are found in abundance in both the human body and in animals. There are other elements that compose the human body, but the four we've highlighted participate in all life processes. Besides, these four elements make up ATP chains (molecule), which governs and controls the body entirely energy processes and physiological and pathological processes of the human body. Oxygen is the pivot, which produ...

Homeopathy or homoeopathy (from the Greek ?μοιο?/homoios, "similar" and π?θο?/pathos, "suffering" or "disease") is a science created by Samuel Hahnemann in 1796. The homeopathic practice rests on three principles: The similarity, the individualization of cases and the infinitesimal. The use of the infinitesimal was proposed by Hahnemann in the early nineteenth century with the publication of "Organon der Heilkunst" (Organon of the art of healing). The compounds used do not become homeopathic unl...

Free radicals are natural nanoparticles which are doing their part well defined in the human cell, but then they must be annihilated or eliminated to not destroy the cell or another part of our body. It has been shown that residual free radicals in the body are responsible for the aging. The role to annihilate them is ful-filled by the antioxidants. Antioxidants are a group of compounds produced by the organism or that occur naturally in many foods. Antioxidants work together in the human body t...

Civilization besides its major advantages (undisputed) brought us some unhealthy habits which unfortunately have managed to penetrate deeply within several generations on the current planetary populations producing great damages to its health. Perhaps it would be the right time to and more people learning to live healthy, to feed ourselves healthy, let's try to break the chain of evil which we grind all already several generations. It has been shown that residual free radicals in the body are re...

Biomimetics, biomechanics and tissue engineering are three multidisciplinary fields that have been contemplated in this research to attain the objective of improving prosthetic implants reliability. Since testing and mathematical methods are closely interlaced, a promising approach seemed to be the combination of in vitro and in vivo experiments with computer simulations (in silico). An innovative biomimetics and biomechanics approach and new synthetic structure providing a microenvironment, whi...
