Abstract Purpose: The study was conducted as a descriptive study to examine the knowledge levels of nurses' prevention of pressure ulcer. Material Methods: 124 nurses working in a university hospital formed the sample of the study. The data of the study were collected by the researchers using the nursing knowledge form on the demographics and the pressure ulcer prevention knowledge form of the nurses developed according to the relevant literature. The forms were given to 124 nurses who agreed to participate in the survey and were collected after nurses filled in. Results: The mean age of 124 nurses in the study was 39.7 ± 5.1 years, 3 of them were male (2.4%), 64 were nursing graduates (51.6%) and the mean experience was 18.7 ± 6. 6 years. The total score of the pressure ulcer prevention knowledge test was found to be 8.9 ± 3.3 (min-max: 1-16) out of 20 and 34.7% (n = 43) of the nurses had sufficient knowledge. It was found that the nurses responded the least to the question (6.5% (n=8)) in order to evaluate pressure ulcer risk factors. This question follows the question asked to evaluate pressure ulcer prevention interventions (14.5% (n = 18)). Conclusion: The majority of nurses do not have enough information, therefore, is considered to be a need to increase the level of knowledge of nurses. According to result of the study; it is recommended that knowledge and skills on prevention of pressure ulcer should be developed through continuous training programs.
