Qualidade fisiológica e resistência do recobrimento de sementes de milho

Abstract: this work was developed with the objective of evaluating the physiologic quality of corn seeds uenf 506-8 covered and the resistance of the covering using different proportions of cement. it was used in the covering of the seeds a mixture of lime and culture media. as cement was used polivinil acetate glue (pva). the covering of the corn seeds was executed with a mixture of 70% (w/w) of lime, 10% (w/w) of semi-solid culture media jnfb and 20% (w/w) of water. in the mixture different proportions were added: 0,5; 1; 2; 3; 4 and 5% (w/w). evaluating the resistance of the covering was simulated the transport and the manual seeding, and the mechanical seeding of the covered seeds. the evaluation of the physiologic quality of the seeds was accomplished in seeds not covered and covered seeds with the proportions of cement: 0,5; 1; 2; 3; 4 and 5%. the increase of the proportion of cement of 2 for 3% caused a small reduction no significant in the speed of the germination, emergency speed and emergency, but it didn't affect the final number of normal plants in the germination test and cold test. for the manual seeding the use of 2% of cement is recommended and for the mechanical seeding 4% of cement.

Abstract: A sociedade precisa se conscientizar da necessidade de preserva o e recupera o do meio ambiente, e é esse o papel da Educa o Ambiental, quando divulga meios de preserva o, leis e projetos referentes ao meio ambiente. Este trabalho descreve e divulga o uso do solo-cimento. Os tijolos e blocos de solo-cimento s o produzidos a partir de uma mistura de argila, cimento e água, sendo estes materiais prensados, dispensando a queima de qualquer natureza. O uso do solo-cimento é visto como benéfico às famílias de baixa renda que sonham melhorar a qualidade da moradia. Environmental education and the use of soil cement Society must to become aware of the need to preserve and recover the environment. This is the role of Environmental Education as it disseminates means of preservation, laws, and projects related to the environment. This work describes and presents the use of soil-cement. Soil-cement bricks and blocks are produced from a mixture of clay, cement, and water. These materials are pressed, which avoids any kind of burning. The use of soil-cement is seen as beneficial to low income families who dream of improving the quality of their homes.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of stored seeds covered with different mixtures and the period of survival of the bacterial cells in the seed coatings. h. seropedicae z67 br 11175 was used in this study. the 'uenf 506-8' corn seeds were coated with a mixture preparation consisting of lime, jnfb semi-solid medium, water and cement. the seeds were conditioned for three months in paper bags and stored under two conditions: laboratory (at a temperature of 26.2 oc and 61.5% relative humidity) and bod chamber. every 30 days of storage determinations of the water content, counting of bacteria, and evaluations of the physiologic quality of the seeds were performed. the coating of the seeds did not modify the natural loss of physiological quality of the seeds during the storage. among the storage conditions studied, the most appropriate for the maintenance of the seeds was the 26.2 oc and 61.5% of relative humidity. bacterial cells were detected in the roots of plants originated from coated seeds inoculated with bacterial and stored up to 60 days independently the of storage conditions.

Abstract: the researches show that germination tests do not always reveal differences between seed lots, so that other methods have been studied that allow to differentiate the lots using vigor tests. the goal of this research was, therefore, to verify the efficiency of different vigor tests on the evaluation the physiological quality of sorghum seeds and to determine the effects of water volume and imbibition period on the efficiency of the electrical conductivity test to evaluate sorghum seed vigor. the physiological quality of the seeds was evaluated by the germination test, first count, cold test without soil, immersion in ammonium chloride, seedling emergence in greenhouse and accelerated aging. electrical conductivity was determined at 2, 4, 6, 8, 16, 24 and 48 hours imbibition, using four subsamples of 50 seeds, soaked in 50 and 75 ml water, at 25oc. the results showed that the germination test detected two levels of vigor, while the seedling emergence in greenhouse detected three levels of vigor, showing that the germination test has some limitations regarding the differentiation of lots. among vigor tests carried out in the laboratory, the test of accelerated aging and cold test without soil showed a highly significant correlation with seedling emergence in greenhouse. in the test of electric conductivity only the lot of inferior quality was discriminated with 2, 4 and 6 hours of imbibition in 75 ml of water, and with 16 hours of imbibition in 50 ml of water. it was concluded that the accelerated aging and cold test were efficient for vigor evaluation of sorghum seeds compared to the seedling emergence in greenhouse. the test of electric conductivity is not an efficient option for classification of the lots in levels of vigor of sorghum seeds, just identifying lots with low vigor.

Abstract: the objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of the humic acids in the inoculation of endophytic diazotrophic bacteria in corn seeds. it was used the bacteria herbaspirillum seropedicae z67 br 11175. the inoculation of the seeds with the bacteria and the addition of humic acids were accomplished by the coating of the corn seeds uenf 506-8. the coating was accomplished with a mixture of lime, semi-solid middle culture, water and cement. the seeds covered were sown in leonard vases. forty days after sowing the plants were collected and the bacteria couting was accomplished in the roots by the most probable number technique. the results showed that the humic acids doesn't interfere negatively in the bacteria growth of and they stimulate the colonization of the native microbiota. however, in the appraised conditions, the united application of bacteria + humic acids didn't stimulate the growth of the bacteria population inoculated in the corn seedling.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of seed coating of maize with humic acid (ha), endophytic diazotrophic bacteria, and the combination of both, on plant growth stimulation and bacteria population establishment in roots of inoculated plant host. the addition of ha, bacteria, and the combined use of bacteria and ha stimulated plant growth. humic acids used in the coated seed formulation show diminished capacity for stimulation of root growth compared with its use in solution. seed coat is an option for inoculation of endophytic diazotrophic bacteria like herbaspirillum seropedicae (z67).

Abstract: length of primary root of seedlings is used as seed vigor test of poaceae. however, besides primary root, there is a variable number of seminal roots, which could have been used. the objective of this work was to evaluate seminal root of corn seedlings as indicative of seed vigor of corn seeds harvested in different seasons and submitted to different threshing methods. to obtain lots with different qualities, ufv-m100 variety corn seeds were harvested in different seasons (experiment 1) and submitted to different threshing methods (experiment 2). in experiment 1, seeds were harvest in four seasons: when they reached water content of 25%, 10, 20 and 30 days later. in experiment 2, seed were harvested with water content of 25% and submitted to manual threshing, in manual stationary threshing and in stationary threshing. in experiment 1, mass of dry seminal roots of seedlings was reduced as harvest was delayed and they were positively correlated with emergency test in sand. in experiment 2, methods of threshing did not influence root traits and there was no correlation between them and emergence in sand. it is concluded that mass of dry seminal roots can differentiate vigor of lots harvested in different seasons, but no root trait was efficient to differentiate lots of seeds with mechanical damage variations.

Abstract: Contemporary electoral campaigns have been investing in social network sites as an alternative channel for dissemination of political information. This novel approach enables the integration of political figures in related, non-hierarchical environments and modifies the campaign experience, giving visibility to ideas and political opinions that emerge from virtual social interactions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the relationship between social network sites and the decision-making process, based on the assumptions of the sociological theory of voters’ behavior. To illustrate the phenomena, the article brings a briefly revision of literature about the use of social network sites on presidential campaigns in Brazil and United States.

Abstract: introduction: professional satisfaction has been seen, in recent decades, as an important condition, if not essential, to achieve the improvement of the functioning of companies and other organizations. this study aimed to know the main determinants of professional satisfaction of nurses who work in primary health care (csp), namely, in barcelos/ barcelinhos health centre (cs). methods: field work was carried out between march and december 2006, based on a quantitative methodological approach and descriptive analysis, through a questionnaire on job satisfaction, designed by gra?a1, and validated for the portuguese health centres reality. the target population was composed by 75 nurses working in the aforesaid health centre. data treatment followed the methodological orientations of the questionnaire's author. spss? 13.0 was used for statistical analysis, including tests qui-square and anova to explore the relations between the different variables. results: the results show that: (i) nurses working in barcelos/barcelinhos health centre are satisfied with positive human interplay establish with the patients and dissatisfied with their payment; (ii) nurses, principally those who work in extensions, don't feel properly protected against physical, chemical, biological, and/or psychosocial risk factors that they are exposed at work in the absence of an effective occupational health and safety management system; (iii) nurses with increased duties, that require them other competences, decision responsibilities and larger specification in their work, present greater professional satisfaction and less disposition to leave their work; (iv) precarious employment in primary health care is another important factor of professional dissatisfaction. conclusions: in this specific case, we verify that the factors that positively influence job satisfaction in primary health care nursing are intimately connected to the professional/ client relationship. on the other hand, the factors th

Abstract: medicinal plants can be used as alternative sources of mineral nutrients in the alimentary diet. elements such as iron, manganese, and zinc present variable bioavailability due to their chemical form (species) present in foods. this work has the objective of evaluating the concentration and bioavailability of iron, manganese, and zinc in extracts of the peel and leaves of caesalpinia ferrea martius by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (faas). the extraction agents tested were 0.05 mol.l-1 naoh, 0.05 mol.l-1 tris-hcl buffer (ph 8.0), 0.05 mol.l-1 tris-hcl buffer (ph 8.0) containing 1% (m/v) sodium dodecylsulfate (sds), 0.05 mol.l-1 hcl, and hot water at 60 oc. the peel and leaves of caesalpinia ferrea martius presented higher levels of iron and manganese when compared to other medicinal plants. the elements studied showed predominant association with compounds of high and low molecular weight and soluble and insoluble species in water. among the analyzed elements, the iron presented the best bioavailability in the peel and leaves of the fruit. manganese and zinc presented higher bioavailability in the leaves. the peel and leaves of caesalpinia ferrea martius can be an alternative source of iron, manganese, and zinc in the alimentary diet.
