Abstract: Our study focused on phytochemical tests and evaluation of the anti-free radical activity of seed extracts of two oleaginous plants from Gabon used in traditional medicine or as condiments: Panda oleosa and Isolona hexaloba. The extraction was carried out by maceration with solvents of increasing polarity: cyclohexane, trichloroethylene, acetone, ethanol and finally distilled water. The total yields of the extracts are about 69.50% for Panda oleosa and 34.28% for Isolona hexaloba. The phytochemical tests carried out on the extracts of the seeds of Panda and Isolona highlight in both seeds the presence of alkaloids, polyphenols, triterpenes, carotenoids, reducing compounds, flavonoids, total sugars, coumarins, anthraquinones, free quinones, free anthracene derivatives, and terpenoids. Isolona seeds also contain leucoanthocyanins, sterols, cardiac glycosides and saponins. Phytochemical tests revealed the absence of tannins and mucilage in both seeds. The free radical scavenging activity was measured by scavenging the free radical cation of 2,2’-azino-bis[3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid] (ABTS-+) with gallic acid as the reference antioxidant. The results of the free radical scavenging activity of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of both seeds showed that the aqueous extracts were more active than the ethanolic extracts. The IC50s of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Panda seeds are 40 and 60 μg·mL-1 respectively, and those of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Isolona are 37.5 and 95 μg·mL-1 respectively. Gallic acid, the reference antioxidant (IC50 = 0.37 μg·mL-1) is about 10 times more active than the aqueous extracts of both seeds, 16 times more active than the ethanolic extract of Panda and 25 times more active than the ethanolic extract of Isolena.

Open Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OJOG) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojog.2014.47051
Abstract:

Introduction: Midwifery is the art of caring for women during childbearing. It is practiced throughout the world according to the norms, traditions and cultural practices found in each country. Maternal mortality in Nigeria is high but there are wide variations between the geopolitical zones of the country. Government has established the midwives service scheme (MSS) as part of efforts towards reversing the country’s unacceptably high maternal mortality trends. To improve these indices, the MSS in Nigeria engaged newly graduated unemployed and retired midwives to work temporarily in rural areas. The midwives are posted for twelve months to selected primary care facilities linked through a cluster model in which four such facilities with the capacity to provide basic essential obstetric care are clustered around a secondary care facility with the capacity to provide comprehensive emergency obstetric care. This brief review is an attempt at exploring the impact of the midwives service scheme on maternal and neonatal indices in Nigeria. Main content: The outcome of the MSS four years has been an improvement though unevenly and marginally, in these indices in the various geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Improvements have been noticed in maternal indices such as antenatal care attendance, women receiving two doses of tetanus toxoid and number of deliveries by skilled personnel. Also reduction in maternal and neonatal mortality has been observed over the years following introduction of the scheme. Major challenges however, include lack of essential drugs, poor accommodation facilities for MSS staff, irregular payment of their remuneration and lack of water/power supply to some designated facilities for the scheme. Recommendations and conclusions: It is therefore recommended that 24 hours availability of essential drugs at primary healthcare centers be maintained. This should happen in conjunction with regular payment of full entitlements and benefits and provision of secured, habitable and good accommodation for MSS staff. Finally, aggressive community mobilization should continue in order to engender community involvement and participation for sustainable program development.

Abstract: We have obtained exact static plane-symmetric solutions to the spinor field equations with nonlinear terms which are arbitrary functions of invariant \"\", taking into account their own gravitational field. It is shown that the initial set of the Einstein and spinor field equations with a power-law nonlinearity have regular solutions with a localized energy density of the spinor field only if m=0 (m is the mass parameter in the spinor field equations). Equations with power and polynomial nonlinearities are studied in detail. In this case, a soliton-like configuration has negative energy. We have also obtained exact static plane-symmetric solutions to the above spinor field equations in flat space-time. It is proved that in this case soliton-like solutions are absent.

Abstract: The present research work is considered as part II of the previous work entitled [Plane Symmetric Solutions to the Nonlinear Spinor Field Equations in General Relativity Theory, jmp, 2019, 10, 1222-1234]. Here, we opt for the static spherical symmetric metric. In this metric, we have obtained spherical symmetric soliton-like solutions to the spinor field equations with nonlinear terms, which are arbitrary functions of \"\", taking into account the proper gravitational field of elementary particles. Equations with power and polynomial nonlinearities are investigated in detail. It is shown that the initial set of the Einstein and spinor field equations with a power-law nonlinearity possess regular solutions with a localized energy density of the spinor field only if we consider massless particle without losing the generality (m = 0). In this case, a soliton-like configuration has negative energy. In order to define the role of the nonlinearity and the own gravitational field of the elementary particles in this model, we have obtained exact static symmetric solutions to the above spinor field equations in the linear case by considering Dirac’s equations and in flat space-time. It is proved that soliton-like solutions are absent in the linear case. But in flat space-time soliton-like configurations exist and have positive total energy.

Abstract: The concept of soliton as regular localized stable solutions of nonlinear differential equations is being widely utilized in pure science for various aims. In present analysis, the soliton concept is used as a model in order to describe the configurations of elementary particles in general relativity. To this end, our study deals with the spherical symmetric solitons of interacting Spinor, Scalar and Gravitational Fields in General Relativity. Thus, exact spherical symmetric general solutions to the interaction of spinor, scalar and gravitational field equations have been obtained. The Einstein equations have been transformed into a Liouville equation type and solved. Let us emphasize that these solutions are regular with localized energy density and finite total energy. In addition, the total charge and spin are limited. Moreover, the obtained solutions are soliton-like solutions. These solutions can be used in order to describe the configurations of elementary particles.
Health and Environment Project In Benin

Abstract: In 1989, the Republic of Benin was facing great social and economic upheavals. In 1990, the Canadian and American Mennonite missionaries created the Bethesda Health Care Centre. In 1993, assessment of the hospital activities showed that many people were coming back to the centre repeatedly with the same illnesses linked to sanitation aspects and living conditions. The Community Development and Environmental Protection Department (DCAM) was thus established to face this great challenge. It quickly helped the community and the local authorities to establish a waste management system. The Programme for Sanitation and Protection of the Environment (PrAPE) was designed and funded by the French Embassy and Evangelische Entwicklungsdienst V.e (EED), a German Christian organization. Households then began to subscribe for the collection of their wastes. Bethesda began to assist other communities to put in place waste management systems. Today, it is working throughout the country with many municipalities. While the programme was being implemented, we discovered that the community needed to be supported in their revenue generating activities. We set up in 1996, a solidarity-based microfinance system. The savings of some people were used to grant credit to others. This community bank has developed into a large bank today. In 2006, a system of mutual insurance was put in place. A complete integrated system to address the basic needs of the community was thus set up.

Furthermore, we have implemented a python program to calculate the Fermat divisors of Pythagoreans triples. The results of this program, confirm the model used. We now have an effective tool to directly process Diophantine equations and that of Fermat.

The Democratic Republic of Congo, in the Light of the Energy Transition: A Prey State between the USA and China?  [PDF]

Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2025, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2025.153038
Abstract: The energy transition is a complex and multifaceted process that aims to replace fossil energy sources (such as coal, oil and gas) with renewable energy sources (such as wind, solar, hydroelectric and biomass) and improve energy efficiency. This transition is an element affecting International Relations, hence it deserves to be analyzed and studied, especially since States have seen the importance of this situation which is becoming a formidable issue leaving no part of the world indifferent. It should therefore be emphasized that in the approach relating to the energy transition, certain States are well ahead of others, and moreover, certain others are far away and others are not yet on track the line, because it is falling into enormous difficulties from a socio-economic point of view. It is important to mention that in current International Relations, the United States and China are the two main states in possession of the baton of command of the economic directive of the world. American supremacy and the rise of China’s power on the international scene are elements, like so many others, which push these Giants to maneuver at all costs in order not to lose the strategic position guiding the pace to follow in the current international system. In their positioning race, the issue of energy transition has arisen, which is how today the means are mobilized with the aim of not remaining on the sidelines at the risk of falling into deep delay and leave room for the opponent. It is obvious that we cannot, these days, talk about the energy transition without mentioning the Democratic Republic of Congo which is not only a solution country in environmental matters, but also one naturally endowed with the resources favoring the energy transition. The example of electric cars, which are today one of the alternatives to fight against atmospheric pollution, helps us to clearly realize that it is in the Democratic Republic of Congo that the eyes of the giants, and not without hands, are placed to obtain the related raw materials. However, the socio-economic conditions of the Congo remain catastrophic and leave room for reflection on an extreme paradox for a State that is naturally rich, but is sinking socio-economically into poverty. This is the motive of our main question seeking to know if the Democratic Republic of Congo is not a prey in the middle, mainly, of the USA and China which are in full race in the energy transition, and having the Congo as Source country, because it is full of resources for the cause, but only lives in misery and extreme poverty. This

Abstract: In the present research work, we have obtained the exact spherical symmetric solutions of Heisenberg-Ivanenko nonlinear spinor field equations in the Gravitational Theory. The nonlinearity in the spinor Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function which depends on the invariant generated from the bilinear spinor form Is = S2. We admit the static spherical symmetric metric. It is shown that a soliton-like configuration has a localized energy density and a finite total energy. In addition, The total charge and total spin are also finite. Role of the metric i.e. the proper gravitational field of elementary particles in the formation of the field configurations with limited total energy, spin and charge has been examined by solving the field equations in flat space-time. It has been established that the obtained solutions are soliton-like configuration with bounded energy density and finite total energy. In order to clarify the role of the nonlinearity in this model, we have obtained exact statical symmetric solutions to the above spinor field equations in the linear case corresponding to Dirac’s linear equation. It is proved that soliton-like solutions are absent.

Journal of High Energy Physics, Gravitation and Cosmology (JHEPGC) , 2020, DOI: 10.4236/jhepgc.2020.64042
Abstract: The present research work deals with an extension of a previous work entitled [Exact Soliton-like spherical symmetric solutions of the Heisenberg-Ivanenko type nonlinear spinor field equation in gravitational theory, Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics, 2020, 8, 1236-1254] to Analytical Soliton-Like Solutions to Nonlinear Dirac Equation of Spinor Field in Spherical Symmetric Metric. The nonlinear terms in the Lagrangian density are functions of the invariant \"\". Equations with power and polynomial nonlinearities are thoroughly scrutinized. It is shown that soliton is responsible for the deformation in the metric and hence in the geometry as well as gravitational field. The role of nonlinearity and the influence of the proper gravitational field of the elementary particles are also examined. The consideration of the nonlinear terms in the spinor Lagrangian, the own gravitational field of elementary particles and the geometrical properties of the metric are necessary and sufficient conditions in order to obtain soliton-like solutions with total charge and total spin in general relativity.
