the high load of training required for the degree of psychologist has resulted in an important contribution to effective professional awareness by students from those experiences. in the case of the traineeship in school psychology, offered by the division of applied psychology at the institute of psychology at the federal university of rio de janeiro, the performance as trainees in this field had other consequences beyond the group training. in this paper, first of all, we show an experience of traineeship that constructed and affirmed an acting proposal based on participant observation and active listening as methods based on a theoretical framework that favors an institutional performance of the psychologists at school. another contribution of this experience was the recognition by different actors that psychology can carry out a different school dialogue with education.
