The Views of Individuals in Different Age Groups on The Status of Syrian Refugees in Turkey

The general objective of the present study was to determine the views of individuals in different age groups on the status of Syrian refugees in Turkey. The study was designed as a descriptive analysis. The study group included 374 randomly selected individuals, who resided in the provinces of Ad？yaman and Ankara. Study data was collected with a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis was conducted on the collected data. The study findings determined that the participants experienced communication difficulties with Syrian refugees since they could not speak the same language. It was observed that although financial and moral support were provided for the Syrian refugees, the participants stated that either the experienced problems should be urgently resolved, or the refugees should return to their countries as soon as possible. The participants considered unemployment, employment, cultural conflicts and language problems as the problems experienced with Syrian refugees. The first proposed solution for the solution of the experienced problems was sending the refugees to their native countries. If that was not possible, it was proposed to organize specialized training programs for the Syrians and to raise the awareness of Turkish citizens
