The experiment was conducted on freshwater teleost fish, Channa punctatus (Bloch.), to study the effect offungicide–Indofil on certain haematobiochemical parameter i.e., total serum protein. Indofil is a carbamatefungicide and is used by the farmers to protect their crops. This fungicide reaches to the aquatic ecosystem bydirect or indirect means and affects the aquatic fauna. LC50 of Indofil for C. punctatus has been calculated by thelog-dose/probit regression line method (Finney, 1971) and recorded as 10.96ppm. Total serum protein contentwas estimated by Dumas method (1971). Four sub-lethal concentrations (0.2ppm, 0.3ppm, 0.5ppm and 1.1ppm)were selected to expose the fish for 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90days. Changes in total serum protein wereobserved with all concentrations and exposure period. Total serum protein was decreased from the control set. At15th, 30th and 45th day the decrease was non-significant in all concentrations, while at 60th day the decreasewas highly significant in 0.2ppm and 0.3ppm, while very highly significant in 0.5ppm and 1.1ppm treated groups.At 75th and 90th day the decrease was very highly significant in all concentrations. Thus a non-significant to veryhighly significant decrease in total serum protein content was observed from 15th to 90th day due to toxic effectof Indofil. So, human population is on high risk by consuming these toxicated fishes.
