Inverse crustal P wave velocity model of Bohai bay basin and its adjacent area by using messy GA with Ground Truth data

Abstract:
We collect arrival-time data of Pn, Pg and P phases of 10534 earthquakes or artificial explosions occurred in Bohai Bay Basin and its adjacent area, between 1978 and 2003. Using the criteria of GT5, we choose 10 representative events, all of which have relatively high accuracy and confidence, and then inverse 1-D crustal P-wave velocity models with Messy GA, by using various events. Our results, especially the local crustal models, are in good accordance with the known results of others, and reflect the principle characters of crustal velocity structure beneath each epicenter on the whole. The theory of our method is very simple, and it is robust to find the local and regional crustal velocity model.
