TRANSPORT CHARACTERISTICS OF MANGANESE IN STORM RUNOFF OF YUQIAO RESERVOIR VALLEY AND ITS INFLUENCE ON WATER QUALITY OF THE RESERVOIR
|
Abstract:
The transport characteristics of manganese in storm runoff of the northern mountain area in Tianjin was studied. The majority of the manganese in the runoff water existed in suspended solids. The dissolved manganese determined was no more than 9 % of the total. Five fractions of manganese in suspended solids of the runoff were determined. The results showed that the percentages of releaseable, potential releaseable and irreleaseable manganese in the suspended solids were 10%, 60% and 30%, respectively. In the storm runoff, manganese was transported mainly as the oxides and the lattice-inlaid fractions. The zone of manganese mineralization in this area contributes to the total concentration of manganese in the storm runoff. Therefore, it had certain influence on the water quality of Yuqiao Reservoir.
