In this study artificial neural network based power estimation has been proposed for the prediction of Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). A simple feed forward network has been used for predicting the wind power generation. In this study, wind speed and a variable (count) are taken as inputs and electric power generated is considered as output. The gradient descent method is adopted for the updating the weights of the neural network. The ANN method has been tested on real time system data. The simulation results of the proposed method have been compared with Back propagation algorithm. It has been observed from the results that the proposed method provides better performance than the existing method.
