Contribution to the Study of the Afrotropical Spilomelinae Guenée, 1854 (Lepidoptera, Crambidae): Distributional Updates on Four Species with New Country Records and Descriptions of Two New Species from the Southern Arabian Peninsula
Taxonomic and faunistic updates on the Afrotropical Spilomelinae (Lepidoptera, Crambidae) based on material from Saudi Arabia and Oman are presented. Two new species are described, namely Chabulinaacutalissp.n. and Herpetogrammarectangularissp.n. The adults and the internal morphology are described and figured for each of the new species. The female genitalia of Herpetogrammarectangularissp.n. are unknown. The character states differentiating each of the species from its closest congeners are listed. A determination key to Chabulinaacutalissp.n. and its closest Afrotropical relatives is provided. Distributional and taxonomic updates on four further described species are given. Hymeniaperspectalis (Hübner, 1796) is reported as new to the Arabian Peninsula. Glyphodesstolalis Guenée, 1854, Bradinatriangularis Seizmair, 2022 and Arnianervosalis Guenée, 1849 are reported as new to Saudi Arabia. The male and female genitalia of G.stolalis are re-described. The diagnostic characters in the adults and in the internal morphology are listed for each of the species.
