Since the 1980s, when South America pulled away the shadow of authoritarianism and again to breathe the air of freedom, the democratization process has been strengthened in the region, within a very dynamic and not uniform among the states. Desde a década de 1980, quando a América do Sul afastou a sombra do autoritarismo e voltou a respirar ares de liberdade, o processo de democratiza o vem se fortalecendo na regi o, dentro de um dinamismo próprio e sem uniformidade entre os Estados.
