Synthesis and Characterization of New 1,3-Oxazol-5-(4H)-one DerivativesDOI: 10.5923/j.ajoc.20120206.04 Keywords: Nicotinic Acid, 1,3-Oxazole, Triazole, Thiadiazole, Thiourease Abstract: New 1,3-oxazol-5(4H)-one (3a – b) was synthesized by cyclization of[(Pyridyl-3-yl-carbonyl)amino]acetic acid (2). The starting were readily obtained by acylation of 2-amino acetic acid (Glycine) with nicotinoyl chloride. Imidazole was synthesized by reaction of compounds (3a - b) with hydrazine hydrate (99%). Compounds (4a - b) were converted into a variety of derivatives. All new compounds were characterized by 1H NMR and FTIR spectroscopy.
