Abstract: methoprene is a synthetic juvenile hormone and is used in the larval control of vector mosquitoes. in laboratory conditions an experiment was carried out; the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of methoprene on the fecundity and fertility of females, emerging from pupae that survived a sublethal concentration of the product (0.00015 ppm). the fecundity of females (23.97 eggs/female treated) was not significantly different from the non-treated females (23.98 eggs/female). nonetheless, the fertility (viability of eggs/female) eggs measured as the percentage of hatching eggs, presented significant differences between the group treated with methoprene (65.35%) and the control group (79.21%).
