Responsabilidad individual en la detección temprana del cáncer de próstata

starting from the point that morbidity and mortality rate due to prostate gland cancer has increased in santiago de cuba, the authors of this work decided to analyze the relation to individual responsibility in order to early detect the aforementioned condition. therefore, 48 men over 50 years old belonging to the health area of "frank país garcía" university polyclinic in santiago de cuba were surveyed during the first months of the year 2011 to determine the factors that influenced on the low risk perception. results showed the urgent need of carrying out actions of health promotion and disease prevention in order to achieve the individual feels more responsible of his health care. of the case material, 85,4 % participants admitted they did not have the tests to guarantee the early diagnosis or detect this tumor.
