a catalog of the vascular plants of ciudad bolívar and its surroundings is presented, comprising 868 species, of which 19 belong to the filicopsida (ferns), 141 to the liliopsida (monocotyledons) and 708 to the magnoliopsida (dicotyledons). the taxa listed here include 135 families and 502 genera, including collections made by various researchers between 1995 and 2005, as well as specimens reported for the study area in flora of the venezuelan guayana. the ten families with highest number of species are fabaceae s.s. (91), poaceae (50), cyperaceae (35), mimosaceae (33), caesalpiniaceae (30), rubiaceae (29), asteraceae (27), convolvulaceae (24), euphorbiaceae (24) and malvaceae (20). the specimens are deposited in guyn,port,ven and wis herbaria
