“英雄之旅”叙述模式下《指环王》两中译版本之比较
A Comparison of Two Chinese Translations of The Lord of the Rings under the “Hero’s Journey” Narrative Mode

《指环王》是当今世界最受欢迎的奇幻小说之一，已被译为包括中文在内的多种语言。奇幻文学多采用“任务–努力–成功”的模式来吸引读者并传播广为接受的价值观念，因此，有必要探究如何在翻译中实现这一目标。本文在约瑟夫·坎贝尔的“英雄之旅”叙述模式下，对《指环王》两个中译版本进行了比较，得出适当使用情绪化表达及避免冗长措辞能够更有效地再现情感，吸引读者。
As one of the most popular fantasy novels worldwide, The Lord of the Rings has been translated into numerous languages, including Chinese. As fantasy literature often includes a “task-struggle-success” pattern to engage readers and promote recognized values, it is necessary to examine how translation can help to achieve this. This paper compares two Chinese translations of The Lord of the Rings under the “hero’s journey” narrative mode proposed by Joseph Campbell and finds that appropriate use of emotional expressions and avoidance of wordy ones are more effective in reproducing emotion and therefore engaging readers.
