With the popularization and in-depth development of network technology, online dating, as an emerging and increasingly common way of socializing, has become widely popular. However, the accompanying online dating fraud incidents are not uncommon, which not only brings serious legal risks, but also causes property losses and psychological trauma that cannot be ignored. This article focuses on the legal risks of online dating fraud, aiming to provide a comprehensive and effective response strategy through an in-depth analysis of the definition, characteristics, and methods of online dating fraud and its harmfulness to society and individuals, combined with the current application of relevant laws and regulations at home and abroad. The purpose of this article is to fundamentally improve the public’s legal awareness and self-defense ability, effectively curb the occurrence of online dating fraud cases, effectively safeguard legitimate rights and interests, and create a safer and healthier online social environment.
