TED演讲中隐喻手势研究
Research on Metaphorical Gestures in TED Talks

手势是演讲中除了言语模态之外的重要模态形式，对隐喻的动态建构具有重要意义。本文以120个TED演讲视频中的手势为语料，通过定性分析的方法，分析和探讨了TED演讲视频中隐喻手势的特点、类型以及功能。结果显示，隐喻手势存在不同类型的隐喻；隐喻手势既可和隐喻性言语相伴使用，也可单独使用；隐喻手势在演讲中对演讲者和受众都具有重要作用。本研究对英语学习者在交际、演讲、辩论中语言应用能力的提高有重要作用。
Gesture is an important modal form other than verbal modal in speech, which is of great significance to the dynamic construction of metaphors. Taking gestures in 120 TED talk videos as data, this thesis analyzes and explores the features, types, and functions of metaphorical gestures in TED talk videos through qualitative analysis methods. The results show that metaphorical gestures have different types of metaphors; metaphorical gestures can be used with or without metaphorical utterances; metaphorical gestures play an important role in speech for both the speaker and the audience. This study plays an important role in improving English learners’ language ability in communication, speech and debate.
