Peter Walker is a well-known contemporary landscape artist in the United States, one of the main leaders who led the development of landscape architecture art, a pioneer and representative of minimalism, and his design works have a strong minimalist style. He perfectly integrates a variety of arts through simple forms and landscape design, thus giving new connotation and soul to the art of landscaping. This paper explores the reasons for the emergence of Walker’s minimalist garden, and summarizes the characteristics of minimalist art and landscape. Finally, the theory and practice of minimalism on behalf of Peter Walker are analyzed, so as to elicit the reflections and enlightenments brought to us by the minimalist landscape.
