This article compares the frequency of the use of a group of synonyms in the “X Shi (视)” style words, and studies the differences in their degree and magnitude. By comparing dictionary definitions and actual sentence performance, it can be concluded that the degree of these words is related to their magnitude. The deeper the degree, the higher the magnitude, and the stronger the expression of subjective emotions, and vice versa. This article provides a ranking of the degree order of this group of verbs, from high to low: disdain > despise > spurn > contempt > underestimated. Linking vocab-ulary with grammar research, analyzing synonymous verbs from their semantic features and syn-tactic expressions, aims to deepen our understanding of this group of disdainful “X Shi (视)” style words.
