以《道德经》英译为例谈文化负载词的翻译策略

Abstract:
文化负载词承载着民族的独特文化。文化负载词的英译工作需要将中西方语言背景的差异考虑在内，通过对其差异的认识，实现有效的文化转换。在中国典籍中存在大量的文化负载词，《道德经》是著名的中国古代哲学典籍，包含了中国哲学之精华。本文从其中的文化负载词英译为例进行实践与分析，提出在翻译过程中需要对文本准确“解码”，总结了文化负载词的翻译策略，以求实现中国文化的有效输出。
Culture-loaded words are the carrier of a nation’s unique culture. The English translation of cul-ture-loaded words needs to take into account the differences between Chinese and Western lan-guage backgrounds. Through the analysis of its difference, an effective cultural transformation can be achieved. The Tao Te Ching is an ancient Chinese philosophical classic, which contains the essence of Chinese philosophy. This paper conducts practice and analysis from the perspective of translation of culture-loaded words and the authors propose that the text needs to be “decoded” accurately. This paper summarizes the translation strategies of culture-loaded words in order to achieve an effective output of Chinese culture.
