张培基与杨宪益《背影》英译本的翻译风格研究
A Study on the Translation Style of Zhang Peiji and Yang Xianyi’s English Version of “Back Shadow”

文章采用定量研究和定性研究相结合的方法，自建语料库比较分析了两个不同译者对朱自清散文《背影》的翻译本文。从词汇、句法两个维度对杨宪益与张培基《背影》英译本的翻译风格进行分析。分析结果显示，杨与张译本中具有独特的翻译风格特征，1) 从类符/形符比来看，在类符和形符所占比重方面，张译本主要使用解释性成分，而杨译本则使用词语更加灵活；2) 由词频与词汇密度比较得知，在从句运用上，杨译本则较张译本运用频率高，所传递之信息量较张译本稍多，因此这亦将稍微提升其翻译之困难度；3) 由平均词长与平均句长得知，张译本用词较为正规，书面语之特色较强，而张译本之平均句长将较贴近西方作品。
The article adopts the method of combining quantitative research and qualitative research, and builds a corpus to compare and analyze the translation of Zhu Ziqing’s prose “Back Shadow” by two different translators. This paper analyzes the translation style of Yang Xianyi and Zhang Peiji’s English translation of “Confucianism and Foreign History” from two dimensions of vocabulary and syntax. The analysis results show that Yang and Zhang’s translations have unique translation style characteristics. 1) From the perspective of the analogy/symbol ratio, Zhang’s version has more interpretive components, while Yang’s version uses more flexible words; 2) From the perspective of word frequency and from the comparison of vocabulary density, it can be seen that in terms of using clauses, Yang’s version uses more frequently than Zhang’s version, and conveys slightly more information than Zhang’s version, so this will also slightly increase the difficulty of his translation; 3) From the average word length and average sentence length, it can be seen that Zhang’s version uses more formal words and stronger written language features, and the average sentence length of Zhang’s version is closer to that of Western works.
