HANNAH ARENDT’S THOUGHTS ON THE PROBLEM OF THE LANGUAGE OF VIOLENCE IN SOCIAL MEDIA AND AMOR MUNDI PHILOSOPHY AS A SOLUTIONKeywords: Sosyal medya, kamusal alan,?iddet, amor mundi,sa?duyu Abstract: Hannah Arendt defends togetherness in the name of building a joint world, world love (amor mundi), and becoming-world despite the thought of humiliation of the world and estrangement from world (contemptus mundi). The dominant feature of modernism in Arendtian thinking is not human's estrangement to himself/herself but his/her estrangement to the world. This study examines the possibility of amor mundi as a solution to the common violence language with reference to the estrangement of people to the world and the reality via social media in today’s society. Arendt relates two essential concepts, the expanded mindset and the common sense, to the public sphere. Absence of the expanded mindset developed by common sense and the vagueness of the distinction between public and private space lead to violence. This study primarily addresses the distinction between public and private space, which Arendt relates to world love, the social media's potential as a public space, and the nature ofpositive and negative violence. This study reveals whether “Eksi Sozluk” which is a social media network is a public space and presents that “Eksi Sozluk” uses the language of violence. For this purpose, a phenomenological investigation of the social media lynchings on “Eksi Sozluk” is carried out
