PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF AIRCRAFT LEASING COMPANIES: APPLICATION OF ENTROPI BASED TOPSIS

The air transportation industry is one of the industries which the fixed asset ratio is quite high. In order to allocate less budget to this important cost item, airlines have recently developed new methods. One of the most commonly used methods by airlines is to rent aircraft instead of buying. This situation has caused aircraft leasing companies to become an important actor in the air transportation industry. Therefore, analyzing the current situation of aircraft leasing companies that have become increasingly important in the air transportation industry and analyzing their financial performance have gained importance. The aim of this study is to empirically examine the financial performance of aircraft leasing companies. For this purpose, 5 aircraft leasing companies which financial data can be accessed fully in the period of 2013-2017 were analyzed empirically. Entropy-based TOPSIS method was used as the method in the study. The findings of the study show that CAPITAL LEASE performed well in the 2013-2014 period, but the best performance aircraft leasing company between 2015-2017 was AIR LEASE
